Mr. R. Satapathy was born in Balasur District of Orissa on 01.04.1948. He joined the Indian Administrative Service of Tamil Nadu Cadre during the year 1972. Obtained M.A. Degree in political Science from Utkal University and M.sc. Degree in Public Finance from University of Bath, United Kingdom. During his service career in Government of Tamil Nadu, held many important post like District Collector of Chengalpattu District and Thanjavur District during 1983-84. Held the post of Commissioner of Employment and Training, Government of Tamil Nadu, Commissioner and Commissioner of Land Administration, Chennai; Secretary to Government of Tamil Nadu in the Department of Revenue and Energy. Promoted to Chief Secretary grade in 2006 and lastly retired as Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Energy, Government of Tamil Nadu. Retired on 31.03.2008 as Principal Secretary, Energy Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
